Modern Foreign Language at Horwich Parish:
MFL is an exciting subject that opens up the rest of the world to you. MFL at Horwich Parish aims to foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world, providing them with an opening to other cultures. At Horwich Parish, we deliver a well-structured Spanish curriculum which encompasses language acquisition as well as cultural awareness in Years 3- 6. Through fluency in spoken and written language, we aim to offer every child the opportunity to forge friendships and find common ground with children from another country and culture.
Awareness of another culture is important to us as it supports our vision of children showing love and respect to all. Learning another language breaks down barriers, not only physically in terms of enabling communication with a wider population but also through the inevitable acquisition of a range of highly desirable skills.
