Head teacher message

Hello

We had a great theme day on Monday focusing on British values. The Key stage 1 children learnt about the different British values and the Key stage 2 children rotated as a carasol throughout the day focusing on the values of: courage, frienship, rule of law, tolerance, democracy, individual liberty, mutual respect and learning about the commonwealth.

Thank you to everyone who collected their empty crisp packets for Terracycle, your support is much appreciated.

Last week I met with the local artist and friend of our school Minty. Together we took a walk around school looking at how we could enhance the environment to reflect us being a church school. The worship group have already done an ethos walk around school and came up with lots of ideas too.

Some of the ideas we intend to take forward are; to continue the fish theme in our entrance throughout school with every child making a fish and displayng them in shoals throughout the corridors and communal areas. Writing bible quotes and other quotes, lyrics on windows, doors throughout school and also creating prayer flags to be hung like bunting in our corridors. Again all the children would be involved with these projects. If any parents, grandparents etc would like to help out with the proposed art ideas, whether you have no art skills but some time, or you can write in calligraphy or can sew then do please do get in touch, I would love to hear from you!

We are hoping to launch a couple of new initiatives and wondered if parents could support us. The first is a lego club that we would like to run at lunchtimes and the second is lego therapy that we would like to do with some of our children that can find lunchtimes a challenge.

I wondered whether any parents, grandparents or friends of Horwich Parish have any lego they would like to donate to school for these projects ?
