Elected parent governor Elected by parents in school
Term of office 11.10.2012 – 09.03.2021
Serving on: Management and finance committee Curriculum committee
Business and pecuniary interests: I work for Bolton Council in the Facilities Management section.
I have been a parent governor of Horwich Parish School since being elected in November 2012. I serve on the Management and Finance Committee and Curriculum Committee. One of my reasons for wanting to serve as a governor was to gain a better understanding of the education that my son was to receive and to contribute where I could to supporting the school especially around the building and its infrastructure.
I currently work for Bolton Council in the Facilities Management section, one of my roles is providing building management to the council’s buildings. It was this element of my work that I felt would be most useful to school in addition to imparting a parental point of view to discussions and debates in committee meetings.
I have one son, who is currently in year three, he enjoys school life, especially when he is able to enjoy outside learning, and serving on eco council is something he thoroughly enjoys.
The role of parent governor is one I would recommend to all parents to try, it is an incredibly rewarding way of contributing to your child’s education.
