Congratulations to our Year 4 tennis team who represented Bolton when they competed in the Greater Manchester School Games on Tuesday 7th July. Eleanor, Indira, Benjamin and Noah all played fantastically and were a credit to the school. Well done! They are pictured with the Olympic 2012 Handball Star Chris McDermott in the Tennis Centre at Sport City.

Many thanks to Stewart Leece, Managing Director of Self Select Distribution and Investors in Publishing Ltd, whose granddaughter attends our school. Stewart has put the full support of his publications, the Horwich Advertiser, Local Independent and Newshounds behind our “Buy a Brick” project. We are looking forward to working with his young reporters, with other firms, and with parents and friends to help us raise the funds we need.
We are aware some parents may feel uncomfortable about the coloured brick scheme, as it points out how much a donor has given. It was not our intention to cause any difficulty, only to acknowledge and celebrate any gift, however large or small. However, we will ensure that any display or web-page uses only one colour of brick, though we will thank each donor individually also.
Great news we second in the schools indoor section.
Congratulations to the year 5 football team who represented Bolton at the Greater Manchester games on Tuesday. They beat Oldham 1-0 and Wigan 2-1 before the torrential downpour unfortunately meant the tournament was cancelled. The boys played brilliantly and parental support was second to none! Congratulations to the team.
Please visit Horwich Library to see our wonderful Butterfly installation. Our children worked with a local artist Minty B to create memorial butterflies that represent a life lost in WW1. It will be up all summer so please have a look. Just finished installing the Butterfly Project at Horwich Library. One butterfly = a life lost from WW1. Each butterfly handmade by a pupil of Horwich Parish Primary school, and each with a personal dedication to a named fallen soldier of that Parish. Well worth a look at the children’s fabulous efforts if you’re local . . . I felt quite emotional seeing them all flying over the walls. Lest we forget. X Minty B
